I know how OpenAI will reach $100Bn in revenue within the next 48 months  and build a sustainable business for the long term! 🤯

A few days ago, Johannis Hatt shared an article with me (comment “article” for the link) about how flawed the economics of OpenAI, Anthropic, and similar companies are. And they are. If you only look at subscription revenues, usage numbers, and infrastructure investments.

However, there wasn’t a single mention of advertising revenue in the entire article which I find very surprising. In the early 2000s, nobody knew how to monetize search until Google came along, invented the blue links, and started charging for clicks.

In 2024:

💸 Google generated $264.59 billion in ad revenues 💸 Meta generated $160 billion in ad revenues 💸 Amazon generated $56.21 billion in ad revenues

My assumption is that OpenAI will launch an ad platform within the next 48 months. And the adoption will be lightning-fast. When Meta began monetizing its platforms, it took some convincing to show why brands should spend on social. At Productsup, we now receive almost daily requests from customers asking when they can start listing and advertising their products on OpenAI.

👉 My take: Advertising will make OpenAI profitable far sooner than the market expects.

What do you think? Is this shift inevitable or will OpenAI resist going down the ad path?
