Advertising is Arriving to ChatGPT!
We were speculating about it at Productsup already in November. Now it's confirmed. OpenAI just announced they will begin testing advertisements within ChatGPT in the coming weeks.
🇺🇸 Initial Test: The experiment is starting exclusively in the US market.
💳 Who will see them? Ads will appear in the Free version and the newly expanded ChatGPT Go tier.
🛡️ Ad-Free Zones: For now, Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise subscribers will remain ad-free.
⚖️ The "Principles": OpenAI has committed to five core principles, promising that ads will never influence AI responses and will be clearly separated from the chat content. (e.g. Answer Independence, Conversation Privacy, Mission Alignment...)
🔒 Privacy: They’ve stated they will not share conversation history with advertisers, and users can opt out of ad personalization.
Given that Sam Altman hates the idea of AI ads, the speed at which this is being rolled out gives you an idea of the monetization pressure OpenAI is under.
