UCP in Google Merchant Center! Google is paving the way for agentic commerce. I just saw the new Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) integrations in some of our Google Merchant Center accounts. 🚀
🤖 UCP: UCP is an open protocol designed to help AI agents and commerce systems seamlessly collaborate across the ecosystem.
🛍️ Frictionless buying: It introduces a new "Direct Purchase" button on eligible product listings directly within Google Search (AI mode) and Gemini.
⚙️ Features: Once set up in the UCP Integration Hub, merchants can activate cart transfers to their own sites, identity linking, and native Google checkout.
🌍 Currently US only: Rolling out progressively in the US, with Canada and Australia slated for next year.
🛠️ Getting started: Merchants must first complete the technical implementation using the UCP developer guide, then submit an application form to unlock onboarding in Merchant Center.
Once merchants are live Google shows you performance insights like “Clicks to buy” and “Purchases”. (See screenshot). Merchants are also able to see their topselling “UCP” products.
Are you already using or planning to use UCP?
